Robot Wars

Robot Wars was a British game show modelled on a US-based competition of the same name. It was broadcast on BBC Two from 1997 until 2003, with its final series broadcast on Five in 2003 and 2004.

Plot Edit

The series involved teams of amateur and professional roboteers who made their own robots to fight against each other in both friendly and tournament matches. As well as fighting each other, they had to avoid the "House Robots", which were not bound by the same weight or weapon limits as the contestants.

Robot Wars RebootEdit

On 13.01.2016 BBC Media Centre published an article informing it's readers that Mentorn Scotland, part of the Tinopolis Group, has been commissioned by BBC Two to produce a new series of the man and machine battle series Robot Wars.

With new technological advances making for an even more exciting and immersive experience, this is a fantastic example of the kind of content-rich factual entertainment that BBC Two excels at.

On 03.02.2016 BBC Media Centre published an article informing it's readers that Dara O Briain and Angela Scanlon had been announced as the new presenters of Robot Wars when the series is rebooted for BBC Two, with Jonathan Pearce returning as commentator.

For too long, the schedules have cried out for a show in which dedicated amateurs, toiling day and night, handcraft sophisticated automatons built on the delicate interplay of hand-wired servo motors with custom-built circuit boards and fingertip motion control, just to see them get smashed to pieces by a dustbin carrying a massive hammer.
